Summer season at Riga airport

The increase in passengers flow is expected at the airport "Riga" during the active summer season, and the airlines a large number of flights will operate in the early hours of the morning. This year until March 21, 12% more passengers were served than for the respective period in the last year. Therefore, the passengers certainly should expect a longer time for necessary formalities (including security control) at the airport. It should be noted that the airlines and the airport "Rīga" recommende to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight.

 

During the summer season a number of new airlines will launch flights from Riga. Yanair airline on May 20 will launch flights from Kiev to the international airport "Riga", operating 7 flights per week. Spanish airline Vueling (Barcelona - Riga - Barcelona) will carry out the first flight to Riga on June 25 and Greek airline Aegean Airlines (Athens - Riga - Athens) on June 26, providing flights weekly. National airline airBaltic will start operating flights from May 28 to Iceland's capital city Reykjavik airport, but in co-operation with tour operator Tez Tour from June 5 the flights to the Italian resort town of Rimini. In turn the low-cost company Wizz Air from June 20 plans to launch flights operations two times per week from Riga to Tel Aviv.

 

As a whole, compared with the 2015 summer season, the planned number of flights this summer remaines at the prior period level. The most frequently the flights from Riga will be carried out to Moscow (66 times weekly), Stockholm (49 times weekly), Helsinki (45 times weekly) and London (39 times weekly). During the summer season 79 destinations will be available from the international airport "Riga" operating by 21 carrier: airBaltic, Aeroflot, Aegean Airlines, Belavia, Ellinair, Finnair, FlyEgypt, LOT, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Onur Air, Ryanair, SAS, SmartLynx Airlines , Turkish Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, Utair, Uzbekistan Airways, Vueling, Wizz Air, Yanair.
